Dear Lagos Resident, have you wondered what the recent buzz about “LASRRA” is? Are you reluctant to get yours from fear of experiencing difficulties during the registration? Well, no worries, we’ve outlined everything you need to know about the process here.
LASRRA stands for Lagos State Residents Registration Agency and was established in 2011 under the Lagos State Ministry of Science and Technology with the aim of creating a reliable and updatable database of all residents of Lagos. The essence of this is to help the government plan and allocate resources for social, political, business, and financial activities.
The LASRRA number is a unique identification number for residents of Lagos state. In recent times, processes such as loan acquisition, application for scholarship amongst other empowerment programs require a LASRRA number. In fact, reports have it that the number will eventually be linked with the health insurance scheme, the metro bus amongst other Lagos State Government services. Luckily, obtaining this number is without the regular hassle of most government registration processes having been made seamless by the provision of an online pre-registration process.
After entering your details on https://registration.lagosresidents.gov.ng/register/ a unique reference number is generated upon printing the confirmation page, which is tendered physically at the registration centers, thus checking off the need to re-enter these details and reducing waiting time. The online registration is the first step after which registrants have to go to a physical center for capturing and biometrics where a temporary card is issued. You can find the closest registration center at https://registration.lagosresidents.gov.ng/help/enrollment . People who have lived in Lagos for less than 3 months are also spared the obligation of registering. However, updating alterations in data supplied such as a change in address; is the responsibility of the registrant.
